1. Definitions
1.1 Unless defined herein, capitalized terms used in this Expert Payment Policy have the meanings given in the OnFrontiers Global Definition Schedule.
1.2 The Expert Participation Agreement determines whether and when a fee is earned and who pays it. This Expert Payment Policy governs the operational detail of payment for each type of Expert Work. Where the two conflict on whether or when a fee is earned, the Expert Participation Agreement governs.
2. Compensation Rate
(a) Video Consultations. OnFrontiers will pay Expert for Video Consultations performed by Expert which are Booked and paid for through the OnFrontiers Platform, based upon the duration of the Video Consultation performed, as follows:
* 0-15 minutes- 25% of Expert Rate, unless the Customer terminates Video Consultation within this period due to poor quality of Video Consultation provided, in which case no payment will be due. This exception applies only where the Customer states the quality concern at or promptly after termination and OnFrontiers, reviewing the stated concern in good faith against the engagement record, confirms it; a termination within the first fifteen (15) minutes for reasons unrelated to quality does not reduce the payment otherwise due.
* Time spent beyond the first 15 minutes will be calculated and paid as a pro rata portion of the Expert Rate, based on 5-minute increments.
* The Expert Rate payable to Expert by OnFrontiers for Video Consultation shall be the Expert Rate that was in effect at the time the Booking for such Video Consultation is made by Client.
(b) Written Responses. The fee for a Written Response is the fixed fee stated when the Expert accepts the assignment, and it does not change for that assignment. Whether and when that fee is earned — including acceptance of the Work Product, rejection for material non-conformity, cure, partial payment where the order provides that no cure period applies, withdrawal of the order, and any discretionary payment — is governed by the Expert Participation Agreement, including Section 6.4. OnFrontiers pays the fee earned for a Written Response in accordance with this Policy.
(c) Scoped Engagements. For a Scoped Engagement, OnFrontiers settles to the Expert the Expert Fee for the hours approved or deemed-approved by the Customer, including hours submitted within any post-closure or post-cancellation submission window provided on the Platform. The Expert Fee is set for each engagement, is recorded in the Engagement Order, and may differ from the Expert’s Expert Rate. No fees are payable to Experts in connection with Opportunity Calls.
3. Video Consultation “No Shows” and Cancellations
(a) In the event a Video Consultation Booked through the OnFrontiers Platform is canceled by Client fewer than 24 hours prior to the scheduled start-time, or Client is a “no show” for such a Video Consultation, Expert shall be entitled to receive 25% of the fee calculated at the Expert Rate that would have been payable to Expert had the Booked Video Consultation taken place.
(b) Expert shall not be entitled to compensation for a Video Consultation which is canceled by Client at least 24 hours prior to the Video Consultation’s scheduled start-time.
4. For Video Consultations, OnFrontiers will not compensate Experts for: (a) time expended by Expert on a Video Consultation in excess of the time booked by a Client through the OnFrontiers Platform; or (b) any preparatory work Expert may choose to perform, unless otherwise expressly agreed between Expert and OnFrontiers in writing.
5. Payments to Experts are made through Stripe Connect. To receive payment, an Expert must complete Stripe Connect onboarding, including any identity and tax information Stripe or OnFrontiers requires. Amounts due are transferred to the Expert’s connected Stripe account; an Expert may request payment of available amounts at any time by emailing hello@onfrontiers.com. First-time payouts are subject to a Stripe-imposed waiting period of 7–14 days from the Expert’s first earned payment before funds are released. After the initial payout from the Expert’s account, payments follow the standard payout schedule, typically arriving within a few business days of being processed.
Tax information reporting follows the work type. For Video Consultations and Written Responses, the Expert performs as an independent contractor of OnFrontiers and OnFrontiers pays the Expert for its own account, reporting payments on Form 1099-NEC where required. For Scoped Engagements, the Expert performs as the Customer’s independent contractor and OnFrontiers settles payment as a third-party settlement organization, reporting settled amounts on Form 1099-K where required, and the Customer is not required to issue an information return to the Expert. An Expert may receive both kinds of return in the same year. An Expert outside the United States may be required to provide tax documentation appropriate to the Expert’s jurisdiction before payment is released.
6. The Expert is responsible for any payout, currency-conversion, or returned-payment fees associated with transfers to the Expert’s connected account, including without limitation any fees or costs incurred by OnFrontiers as a result of inaccurate or incomplete account information or transfer instructions provided by the Expert.
7. Payment is conditioned on the Expert’s compliance with the Expert Participation Agreement and the OnFrontiers Community Standards. As provided in the Expert Participation Agreement, OnFrontiers may withhold payment for, or recover amounts paid for, Expert Work affected by a breach of those obligations, including misrepresentation of the Expert’s credentials or experience, dishonest conduct, or Work Product that is not the Expert’s own or that infringes the rights of a third party.
